A very special type of treasure chamber awaits our guests in the "underworld" of the Donauhof: Josef Pichler's enthusiasm for exquisite wines is reflected in his wine cellar, incorporating old bricks in the design of a romantic vault.
At the stout tasting table, guests can sample the treasures of the house in a perfect setting. Leading the selection, of course, are the Grüne Veltliner and Rieslings of the Wachau, which are constantly ranked amongst the world's elite at international wine tastings. But the other top-notch wines, from Austria, Italy, France, California and South Africa, are also a source of enthusiasm for those with an appreciation for excellent wines
The Wachau is one of the world's best white-wine regions. You can recognize a Wachau wine by its famous seal, depicting Leuthold I of Kuenring. The seal can only be displayed by member of the "Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus", an organization established in 1984 to guarantee and preserve the quality of the region's wines.
